See Season 1 Trailer

“See” Season 1 (2021) is a gripping, post-apocalyptic science fiction series set in a world where humanity has lost the sense of sight. After a devastating viral plague wipes out most of the human population, the survivors are left without vision. Generations pass, and the remaining human society has adapted to a new, sightless world. People rely on heightened senses, physical prowess, and the guidance of their communities to navigate the environment.

The series opens with a breathtaking, harsh landscape—forests, rugged mountains, and decayed remnants of human civilization. Civilization has reverted to a tribal, survivalist way of life, and blindness is now the natural state of all people. Those born with sight are seen as unnatural anomalies and are treated with suspicion and fear.

The protagonist, Baba Voss (played by Jason Momoa), is the chief of the Alkenny tribe, a strong and protective leader with a deep sense of loyalty to his family. His world is turned upside down when his wife, Maghra (played by Hera Hilmar), gives birth to twins, Kofun and Haniwa, who are born with the ability to see. This extraordinary birth sets off a chain of events that threatens the fragile stability of their society.

As word of the sighted children spreads, the tribe must navigate increasingly dangerous political and social tensions. The twins are viewed as both a miracle and a curse. Their very existence challenges the fundamental beliefs of the world they live in, and their survival is constantly at risk. A rival tribe, led by the power-hungry Queen Kane (played by Sylvia Hoeks), seeks to capture the twins to use their sight as a tool for domination. She believes that sight is a gift from the gods and that those who possess it can lead the world back to greatness, even if it means using brutal methods.

Baba Voss, desperate to protect his family, embarks on a journey to keep the children safe, encountering perilous obstacles, fierce enemies, and difficult moral choices along the way. He is aided by his loyal warriors, including Paris (played by Alfred Enoch), a skilled fighter and strategist, and Bow Lion (played by Yadira Guevara-Prip), a fierce protector who has her own complicated history with Baba.

The show explores themes of power, belief, and survival in a world where sight is a lost and sacred gift. As Baba Voss faces the looming threat of Queen Kane’s forces, he must also contend with the revelation that the twins’ sight could reshape the future of humanity, either for better or for worse. The season builds tension as the struggle between the two factions intensifies, culminating in a violent and emotional showdown that will determine the fate of the children and, ultimately, the future of the world.

“See” Season 1 is a visually stunning, action-packed series that blends science fiction with survival drama, pushing the boundaries of how people adapt and fight for survival in a world where sight is no longer a given. The tension between the need to protect and the desire for power drives the narrative forward, exploring what it means to see—and the consequences that come with it.
