The season begins with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) landing at Dragonstone, her ancestral home, accompanied by her army of Unsullied, Dothraki warriors, and three powerful dragons. She immediately begins strategizing her conquest of the Seven Kingdoms. With Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) as her Hand, she seeks alliances with key houses, including House Martell and House Tyrell. However, her plans face setbacks as Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk) ambushes her fleet, capturing Yara Greyjoy and eliminating her Dornish allies.
Meanwhile, in the North, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) is declared King in the North but is more focused on the existential threat of the White Walkers. He travels to Dragonstone to meet Daenerys, hoping to convince her to help in the fight against the Night King. Though Daenerys initially demands his loyalty, Jon eventually gains her trust, and they form an alliance. As they spend time together, a romantic connection develops.
To prove the existence of the White Walkers, Jon, accompanied by Jorah Mormont, Tormund Giantsbane, and others, embarks on a dangerous mission beyond the Wall to capture a wight. Although they succeed, they suffer great losses, including Daenerys’s dragon, Viserion, who is killed and later resurrected by the Night King.

In King’s Landing, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) strengthens her rule through ruthless tactics. She promises to aid the fight against the White Walkers but secretly plans to betray the alliance. Her twin brother Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), realizing her deceit and obsession with power, finally leaves her.

At Winterfell, Arya (Maisie Williams) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) reunite, though Littlefinger attempts to manipulate them. However, with Bran’s insight as the Three-Eyed Raven, they expose Littlefinger’s schemes and execute him.

In the shocking finale, the Night King, now riding the undead Viserion, uses his icy breath to destroy the Wall, allowing his army to march into Westeros, signaling the beginning of the final war.
