The film opens in modern-day Cairo, where ambitious archaeologist Dr. Layla Hassan uncovers a hidden chamber beneath the pyramids. Inside, she finds the sarcophagus of Neferus Ra, an ancient high priestess who was cursed for her treachery against Pharaoh Seti I. Unlike Imhotep, Neferus Ra was said to possess forbidden powers that could bend life and death itself. Unaware of the danger, Layla and her team break the seal and inadvertently awaken Neferus Ra.
The resurrection unleashes chaos as Neferus Ra seeks to reclaim her lost power and unleash an army of the undead to dominate the living world. With her dark magic, she aims to resurrect Seti I and rewrite history by establishing a new, eternal dynasty where she reigns supreme.
Desperate to stop the priestess, Layla seeks out Alex O’Connell, the son of Rick and Evelyn, who has become a reluctant adventurer following the mysterious disappearance of his parents years earlier. Initially skeptical, Alex agrees to help after realizing the link between Neferus Ra and his family’s past battles with the supernatural.
Together with a group of treasure hunters and scholars, Alex and Layla embark on a perilous journey across Egypt, seeking the legendary Scales of Anubis—a mythical artifact said to have the power to judge and bind the souls of the dead. Along the way, they face mummified guardians, sandstorms conjured by Neferus Ra, and their own inner demons.
The climax unfolds at the Valley of the Kings, where Alex and Layla confront Neferus Ra in a battle of wit, courage, and magic. In a gripping showdown, they manage to use the Scales of Anubis to banish Neferus Ra back to the underworld, but not before discovering a cryptic clue about Rick and Evelyn’s fate.
The film ends with a thrilling cliffhanger, teasing the return of the O’Connell family for another epic adventure.
